At the tail end of 2011, a film version of the hugely successful game franchise Assassin’s Creed was announced, followed by the news that Fassbender would be playing main protagonist Callum Lynch. Cue fan meltdown.
The film contains a mix of new characters written specifically for the production that haven’t appear in the video games and some that do. Fans of the franchise are understandably nervous as game-to-screen conversions don’t often go that well -Prince of Persia, DOA, Hitman anyone? But with a budget revealed to be close to $200m and 5 years of production behind it, surely we are entitled to a little hope?
In a bid to give fans the film they deserve, the production team behind the Assassin’s Creed movie are insisting where possible to avoid CGI movie magic. Not excluding the fabled leap of faith – hopefully not into a cart full of hay – acclaimed stuntman Damien Walters was asked to free fall a terrifying 125ft which you can watch here.
A record-breaking stunt all in a days work ay Damien? You mental bastard. Catch Assassin’s Creed in cinemas 6th January 2017 and you can watch the trailer over and over again if you can’t wait that long.
