Winter is well on its way as the big companies pull out all of the stops with their tear-jerker festive adverts and huge tins of chocolates lining the supermarkets getting us all into the festive mood.
As the temperature plummets, a perfect winter coat is essential for any well-dressed girl or lady and the holy grail of the High Street has got some gorgeous styles, at such reasonable prices.
I think one thing is for certain here; my personal advice is to invest in a classic coat (like the ones below) which will never go out of fashion and will look chic in many cold seasons to come. The trick here is to look at the quality of material, the longevity and the price and don’t be a cheapskate here; remember the higher the price, the better the quality which equals a better investment win win!
Get your camel on
…and we’re not talking about camel toes here, ahem.
Camel tones have come back onto our fashion radars this season after spying models and fashion bloggers experimenting with this cool new shade.
It’s an autumnal tone which goes with a heck of a lot of colours, so you don’t need to think about colour clashing. Most of the coats below are made from wool so are uber warm and cosy and very off-duty model too.
Wear simply with rolled up black jeans and loafers á la Alexa Chung or for a more glamorous look; pair a classic LBD (little black dress) and heels with the coat for evening sophistication.

Grab your boyfriend
So this season welcomes a more masculine vibe to our outerwear- in the style of ‘boyfriend coats’. Think oversized, slouchy silhouettes and in an array of colours, this is a more casual, thrown on, anything goes kinda look.
The key theme for this trend is versatility so go for a coat that’s easily dressed up or down and has minimal detailing.
It’s what all of the cool kids in East London are wearing so get ahead of the game and throw one of these bad boys on for extra impact.

What would winter be without faux fur? It’s literally the texture which you can pretty much wear with anything. Faux fur gilets, scarves, coats-the list is endless.
Get your furry fix on; whether it’s for a casual look, think jeans and converse, or as a glamorous cover up, give fur the chance to get you all warm and cosy this year.
Word of warning though, choose the right fur type. I had the misfortune of trying on a fur gilet in a shop the other day, and I kid you not, it made me look, a, 5 stone heavier and, b, like a yeti.
So tread carefully ladies…
