If you’re one of many people that attended EGX 2015, which moved from its former home of Earls Court in London to the NEC in Birmingham, then you were in for an absolute treat.
The breadth and depth of titles that were available to play was unlike anything else seen in the UK before, and seeing huge crowds line-up for blockbuster titles such as Just Cause 3, Rainbow Six: Siege, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Assassins Creed: Syndicate, and the new Mirror’s Edge was heartening.
I got chatting to some of the public, and asked what they thought of EGX this year. Daniel Wardingley said: “I think its been a genuinely good show! For the first time being here in the NEC, as well – really happy with it.”
“We’ve just played Tekken and they have a whole variety of games like Street Fighter, Black Ops 3… I’m loving the variety here.”
Cosplayers were out in full force, too. Emma and Joe, who cosplayed as Harley Quinn and The Joker, were also soaking up the atmosphere and games that were on offer. “We’ve had a go at Guitar Hero Live and we’re seeing what other games are on. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to play Battlefront!”
Emma spoke about the increase in women attending EGX 2015, particularly developers. “It’s brilliant that there has been a lot more attending. There was a developer talking about a game and a guy said to her ‘What do you know about it?’ A fair bit, I’d say: she wrote the software for it and made the game! But there’s a lot more women this year, a lot more younger girls attending too.”
