what an amazing game, and with an amazing game comes and amazing soundtrack and heres some of the best HipHop songs well worth a download after hearing them playing whilst cruising through Los Santos.
1. R-Cali – A$AP Rocky ft. Aston Matthews & Joey Fatts
A$AP has had one hell of a year, reaching the top of the US Billboard 200 with his debut album Long Live A$AP, trading up from Iggy Azalea to Chanel Iman, and now slyly putting out the biggest banger on the GTA V track-list. The eerie high pitch synth and the rhythmic vocals make the beat instantly recognizable; and though the song is only two verses long, R-Cali is the oasis to the thirst of A$AP’s upcoming album Beauty and the Beast: Slowed Down Sessions, Chapter 1.
2. Ali Bomaye – The Game ft. 2Chainz & Rick Ross
Ask yourself, do you actually know anybody who brought Game’s album Jesus Piece this year? No? Then sort your life out. Seven months after it’s release Ali Bomaye (Ali, Kill Him); a tribute to the chants Muhammad Ali received while training for the Rumble in the Jungle, finally receives the credit it deserves. More to the point, what black magic did Black Metaphor use to keep Florence and the Machine vocals from sounding out-of-place?
3. C-Walk – Kurupt
You know an artist is serious about representing his set if he says gangsters 25 times in one verse. You can feel the early 90’s vibe with the E-piano cords and repetitive bassline. C-Walk throwback from the dawn of Death Row Records who taught you it’s not just a dance, it’s a way of living. However the tune reminds us of driving the same Los Santos streets with Carl Johnson behind the wheel.
4. Smoke and Ride – BJ The Chicago Kid ft. Freddie Gibbs & Problem
Whilst made up of the least well-known artist on our list, this song is nothing to be sniffed at. Freddie Gibbs got his tune Emicicicda on Max Payne 3.The Chicago Kid worked on Impossible with Kanye, Twista and Keyshia Cole. I know right? This is the song you want playing after you’ve completed that one mission you keep getting killed on and we wonder if these artists will remain in the background for much longer.
5. Garbage – Tyler, The Creator
So you didn’t hear this track being played? That’s because it wasn’t on Radio Los Santos or West Coast Classics. Yeah there were other stations to choose from whilst avoiding the Lowdown. There’s a lot of weird sounds that make up the beat but that’s Tyler’s style and you’ve already grown to love it. It’s not a simple loop instrumental but it is. Look stop looking for excuses to not like what you know is a hard tune and put it on.
