Welcome to the twenty-second instalment of our weekly series; The Kings of Kickstarter.  Last week found us amongst the Great Kickstarter Bazaar, hawkers and venders vying for our coin as we perused the bounty of wares in search of design of the highest order.  From 10000 rides to a cube containing half the known elements, dignity and design married humbly amongst the nobility, yielding a new breed of descendants to uphold the lineage.   As per usual NUBI has procured 5 Kings (and of course one jester) and presented them below.  Now ranked in descending order, only one can claim the title of Supreme Overlord.

#5.  Xpand Lacing System – Charles Harris

“We offer you a fully adjustable fit providing comfort whether you’re heading out for a night on the town or running a marathon.”

Sneaker heads, is your lace game loose or have you got things tied up?  Pardon the pun but according to Xpand in our lives we will lace our shoes over 100,000 times (no stress for velcro veterans).  Seriously though, everyone has found themselves hopping around the room desperately thumbing on a hi-top, safe in the knowledge you’ve already missed the bus.  Either that or keep your daps fast and loose to slip into at a moments notice, if you don’t mind a bit of rub and ride that is.  Even though THOSE self-lacing shoes are going on sale next year, who’s can really front that kind of cash?  Enter Xpand with a range of 24 colours to customise with and some lace locks which even they describe as ‘stealth mode’. With the intention of combining style, convenience and comfort, the laces are made from a patented zero memory, long-lasting, elastic rubber that when combined with the Lace Anchors  enables the lace and thereby the shoe to expand when pulled on, before returning to the level of tightness you selected.  Using your shoes for something other than hot-stepping?  Xpand also provide clip close lace ends if you opt to wear them visibly.
