Welcome to the twenty-eighth instalment of our weekly series; The Kings of Kickstarter. Last week found us stranded in the foreboding Kickstarter North Pole, trawling the vast icy wastes for the hardiest in crowdfunded design and a jolly man in red. From pocket microscopes to crimefighting
trawling the vast icy wastes for the hardiest in crowdfunded design and a jolly man in red. From pocket microscopes to crimefighting bards, a glorious legacy was etched in ice by the all too fleeting genius of the Kaisers. As per usual NUBI has procured another 5 Kings (and of course one jester) and presented them below. Now ranked in descending order, only one can claim the title of Supreme Overlord.
#5. ViKC: Virtual Keyboard Cover – ViKC
“The case, perfectly integrated with your smartphone, projects a laser keyboard on the working surface.”
Even with apps specifically designed to recall and suggest your word use and featuring a keyboard layout geared toward functionality lets face it; typing extensively on a smartphone is a bitch. The last time a light based projection keyboard was touted around it turned out to be an April Fools gag. This has at least an air of legitimacy about it and squeezed into a fairly small case it is a retrofit we can definitely get behind. A combination of the laser built into the case along with your smartphones front facing camera as a motion detector translates your keystrokes or keybreaks into the text onscreen. With a recognition rate of 180 characters per minute you can turn that train journey into productive time, that email that needs to go out immediately but must be absolutely on point – sorted. As it interacts directly with your smartphones hardware and the app you install there is no wireless connection necessary for it to work, all you need is a flat non respective surface and your away. With a built-in kickstand to boot this is a genuine move to simply increase your on the go productivity.
