Birmingham-based record label EQ Recordings will host a musical showcase of the best female talent in the Midlands this International Women’s Day.
The F Word is a music event hosted by EQ Recordings & Management and the Live Arts Show as a celebration of the best emerging female talent in the Midlands. The event coincides with a celebration of International Women’s day and will take place on Thursday 9 March at Mama Roux.
Following a Glastonbury performance last year, the acclaimed Birmingham based rap artist Lady Sanity will headline the event. Lady Sanity is a twenty-two-year-old female emcee with a message. Her musical interests developed in her teenage years, when she began teaching herself how to play the guitar, exploring music technology and song writing, with influences ranging from Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte and Missy Elliot. The new era of real female emcee’s are back; Lady Sanity is one to watch for 2017, rising on the UK rap scene.
Performing and hosting The F Word is Birmingham favourite, singer-songwriter Call Me Unique. Heavily influenced by jazz scat-singing, Call Me Unique combines elements of modern rap, beautiful melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics, delivered by her soulful voice over subtle guitar arrangements.
Next on the line-up is the powerhouse singer-songwriter, KLOW. After graduating from a Performing Arts Academy in the Midlands, she has developed her focus on incorporating Soul/Jazz/RnB and Pop. KLOW will perform songs from her upcoming EP due to be released in 2017.
Joining the all-female line-up will also be Jamaican born singer-songwriter Janel Antoneisha, Birmingham based singer Elle Chante and finally the breath-taking vocal talents of Madi Saskia.
Sophia Carter, founder and artist manager at EQ, said:
“At EQ we are passionate about showcasing the wealth of talent here in the Midlands. We want to use The F Word as a platform to celebrate the amazing female musicians to have emerged from the Midlands, and when better than on International Women’s Day!
Events such as these allow musicians to make a career out of their art and in turn, help cement Birmingham’s position as one of the leading destinations for live entertainment and the creative industries. We hope that people will come along to support and celebrate their local female artists on International Women’s day!”
