Saturday night saw a bill that was celebrating some of the best British bands around! As the masses of Birmingham descended upon the O2 Institute, for the Birmingham gig of one of the most anticipated tours in a while! You could tell from the atmosphere that something special was about to happen!
Black Foxxes: Due to the busy bill and early curfew, The Exeter Trio had to start to a half empty room, but that didn’t stop them. A short set full of passion, movement and energy definitely made them some new friends! We got to see them at Boardmasters supporting Deaf Havana at one of the Beach Sessions, and once again they didn’t disappoint!
Moose Blood: I’m going to put all bias aside for this one. Moose Blood did enough – they weren’t bad, but they weren’t anything special either. However, they got the crowd going a bit more than Black Foxxes did, probably due to the fact that they actually had a crowd!
As Is It: If there’s one thing that’s very, very apparent with As It Is, it’s that they love what they do and that they’re loving every minute they spend on stage. Singer Patty Walters was grinning like a Cheshire cat when he didn’t have the mic at his mouth, it was really refreshing to see them!
Lower Than Atlantis: “Hello, we’re a band called Lower Than Atlantis”, singer Mike Duce proclaimed. There’s not much to say about LTA that you don’t already know! They’re one of the hottest British rock bands on the scene right now, and I reckon that in a year they’ll be playing arenas and supporting Stadium headliners. Saturday though, they were on form as always, busting through the classics, never looking tired! We caught them at both Slam Dunk and Boardmasters, and are definitely keeping an eye on their rise!
