It seems Apple isn’t the only one with the big reveals, as Sony unveils it PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim, shortly after the iPhone 7, perfectly timed for the Christmas holiday.
When compared to the current PS4, the new standard PS4 (the PS4 Slim) boasts a reduced volume by 30 percent, weight by 16 percent, and power consumption by 28 percent. The overall design of the console is noticeably smaller, although it still boasts all of the same powerful components, is this enough to make people fork out for it though? Time will tell.
“Games explode into life with intense graphics and incredibly lifelike details thanks to increased power under the hood […] Action becomes faster, smoother and more explosive with crystal-clear movement from faster and more stable frame rates.”
A more detailed look reveals that the PS4 Pro has a sleek new design and also goes a step further with its latest in imaging technology capable of 4K resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR), as well as much smoother frame rates.
The more powerful GPU and faster CPU will also make games look that much richer and more detailed. Accordingly, various developers are updating previously launched PS4 games to add PS4 Pro support, while others are simply building PS4 Pro support into upcoming releases.
In addition, there’s talks that Sony is working with its partners, such as Netflix, to build new apps for PS4 to enhance streaming capabilities.
