The reigning champions of a famous TV talent show have now been added to a major music festival coming to Coventry next summer; Soundscape Weekender. X-Factor 2017 winners Rak-Su are appearing at the Soundscape Weekender festival at Ricoh Arena on Sunday, 16 June – which is being billed by concert organisers as one of the biggest music events in the city’s history to date!

The in-demand R&B group quickly became X Factor favourites last year by writing and performing their own original songs. After forming just two years ago, they had three singles reach number one on the iTunes chart during their run in the TV contest. Since winning the competition the band have scored a number-two hit in the UK charts with Dimelo, which saw them working with Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy, and have recently unveiled their latest catchy number, I Want You To Freak.

Rak-Su is the penultimate act to be announced for day two of Soundscape Weekender which will be headlined with a 90-minute set from world-renowned DJ David Guetta.

Rak-Su and David Guetta will also be joined by other chart-topping music artists including Clean Bandit and Years & Years – who have collectively spent more than 100 weeks in the top 10 of the UK charts.

“This music festival is all about offering a range of high calibre acts at a low price,”

said Dan Nelmes, director at Showtime Live who are organising the Soundscape Weekender. “People can see seven performances from some of the most in-demand artists in the world, plus a 90-minute headline set from David Guetta, for the same cost as going to see a gig featuring a couple of artists.

Justine Hewitt, head of operations at the Ricoh Arena, added: “This city is set for a fantastic weekend of music – the calibre of artists on offer is second to none and is fast becoming the must-see music festival next year – we can’t wait to see who is booked in to perform on day one!”
