It’s almost here. The day we’ve been waiting all of 2016 for (yes, all 2 months of it). Deadpool‘s coming and you better be ready for it.
Of course, if you weren’t aware the motormouth mercenary was headed our way, then you’ve probably been living under a rock. From the moment it was announced, Deadpool has gone extravagantly viral thanks in part to its constant campaign of humorous trailers and TV-spots. Even as a big fan, it’s hard to keep a track when they’ve been dropping new little tid-bits all over the place.
That’s where your friendly neighbourhood NUBI comes in. We trawled the deep, dark corners of the internet (and boy, did we see some things…) so we could bring you all the best parts of the Deadpool publicity campaign. You’re welcome internet. You’re welcome.
1. April Fools
Ahh yes, back where it all began. Under the guise of a serious interview to announce a ‘PG-13 rating’ (all lies, luckily) our red friend showed up to the party and stole our hearts, thus kicking off this amazing publicity trail.
2. Pre-Trailer Trailer
How better to announce a new trailer than…with a trailer?? With this short clip we already got a glimpse of Deadpool’s potty mouth and his love of breaking the fourth wall. And the internet loved it.
3. 12 Days of Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds returned to the role in December to announce a 12 day fest of Deadpool goodies, from snippets to pictures, ending on Christmas Day with the big prize: a new full trailer. It was the present we all wanted.
4. Touch Yourself Tonight
And then we were treated to a little lesson in healthcare, via our new favourite good/bad guy. Two new videos were released – one for men, one for women – urging us to check ourselves out for the signs of breast and testicular cancer. And in true Deadpool style, he urges us to think of him while doing so.
5. …Wayne Rooney?!
But then. The pièce de résistance. The makers of Deadpool hit us with the collaboration no one knew they needed when they teamed him up with Manchester United.
With this only being the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Deadpool publicity clips, it’s fair to say we’ve been spoilt – and the movie isn’t even out yet.
Suffice to say, we’ve been prodded into a ‘pool frenzy. With only one day left to wait until the full reveal, we admit it: we heart Deadpool. Big time.
