With Spring and Summer’s trends slowly crawling back, there has been a fusion of colours blossoming, not only in our wardrobes but also in the hair salons. Will you be brave enough to go platinum this season like Kim K?
We naturally feel fresh and colourful whenever we transition into sunnier days, away from the 50 shades of grey and into the soft pastels and rich tones. Leaving the all black outfits in the back of the closet, we can reach for the vibrant and playful pieces.
During A/W14 the dark vampy lip colours were out in a full effect along with the 90s style fashion trends, incorporating ombre hairstyles. Now that the climate is slowly changing we can finally take off the layers and let our hair down.
When thinking about what to wear this spring, accessories play a huge part in the process. Hair is another accessory and seems to be joining forces with the plethora of tones we are going to be seeing this season. ‘IT’ girl Kim Kardashian known for her beauty is usually seen stunting dark shiny locks, however she opted for a drastic change and showed off her platinum blonde hair at Paris Fashion Week not too long ago.
Also, we noticed Rita Ora’s hair at this years Grammys was taken up a notch, to an icy blonde. Is this the new do to recreate? Lady Gaga who undoubtedly loves an attention seeking outfit was seen at the Grammys in a ordinary (for her) yet chic look; also rocking a platinum do, her hair was ice cold silver.
Not all celebs are following in suit. Rihanna, who experiments and takes pride in changing her look has kept her hair at a natural black for now, but we can’t forget the daring dos she has inspired us to try; the unapologetic statement red and the pink pixie cut.
Adding a pop of colour is a great way to bring in the new season. Why not incorporate it into your hairstyle. Clip in extensions are a great way to develop a subtle change. Whether it be longer locks, an ombre or a soft highlight, there are ways to get the look without damaging your hair. YouTube Guru Raye shares a simple hairstyle and ideal way to temporarily switch up the colour without having to use bleach.
There are plenty of tutorials to learn and develop ways to look after your hair (if you are a DIY type of girl like myself) wanting to change the tone without permanency and damage.
Social media tends to be the best way to keep up with trends. Instagram being the most influential for fashion enthusiasts, stylists and bloggers, we are now seeing an array of colours from them.
Maga Moura Fashion PR from Brazil has a bright vivacious sense of style. Known for her eccentric braids there are no exceptions to her recent do. A loud yellow is her choice of colour, perfect for the transition in seasons. Fashion enthusiast and designer Breeny Lee too enjoys playing with style and incorporates vibrant colours to her hair choices. Breeny shows us great colour choices and varied styles wearing a ombre purple bobbed cut. Check out the gallery!
